Linda and Jenny held a contemporary workshop in April where all of us enjoyed learning how to do fan shaped designs with pinning. Thanks to both for all their hard work in the preparation and presentation for this. The slide show below shows the pretty and wonderful designs made by our members. At our first meeting for 2010, Beth and Noreen gave us valuable tips on buying cut flowers, transporting and conditioning them, and the mechanics of flower arranging. We learnt the basic principles (balance, dominance, contrast, rhythm, proportion, scale, unity & harmony) and elements (space, pattern, colour, form, line, texture) of design.
Then we analysed the various designs of our choice(shown below) by applying the principles and elements of design.
Bench work title was ‘Holidays’ and we had lovely decorated knives as wired work.
We had our 47th birthday meeting on the 20th of October and we had several guests from other Victorian floral art groups and garden clubs in attendance. In the absence of the guest demonstrator, our president Noreen gave a beautiful demonstration at very short notice. She made five lovely contemporary arrangements and all the guests appreciated her artistic talent and skills.
Noreen also celebrated her birthday on the 21st October.
Many Happy Returns Noreen!
